A remarkable day for us all in Nigeria
It marks the day of our freedom
The day our struggle was confirmed
Our hustle regarded legit
Our voices heard
Our endless fights coming through
We celebrate our heroes who fought the good fight for us
for the blood shed in the name of Freedom,
Green which represents our fertile natural wealth
the land of the free
White for the peace we wish to share,
For all men created equal
Stripes to remind us of the lashings taken by the Prisoners of War
With a seal, in God we trust
let the hungry beggars chant
The weeping kids chant
The struggling parents chant
The lonely chant
The suppressed chant
The barren chant
Let the rich chant
The poor chant
Big and small chant
Weep not
Rejoice more
The light of our future is still bright
Like the sun shinning above the sun
Our generation will dance to its tunes
and rejoice
Waving high to show we are still here, undefeated, untouched and stronger than ever.
I pledge to Nigeria my country
To be faithful, loyal and honest
To serve Nigeria with all my strength
To defend her unity
And uphold her honor and glory
So help me God
