"Come for the reward, stay for the community"
How does this work for a newbie who probably heard of steemit from another newbie as a social media that pays members for just posting stuff?
To be sincere, the only thing that piques the curiosity of anyone who hears of steemit for the first time is the mention of rewards for creating contents. In all cases that I have encountered, they only take interest in the payments part. You mean they will pay me for just posting stuff? Always the question I get again and again. These set of people are the ones who plagiarize, ( what the community frowns at). They come in to post stuff so to get paid. They are the Hit and run drivers we don't want on the streets of steemit.
However, there is no way this community does not need new members for survival. That is why we are mandated to preach the steemit gospel. Correct me if I am wrong.
No doubt, a lot of us newbies are working really hard to bring in our family and friends to come join us enjoy all the benefits the steem blockchain has to offer. Unfortunately some of us focus more on recruiting newbies than giving them proper education on how to do things around here. You may not know a lot but the little you know can help he who does not at all. We want our friends to grow, don't we? I trust we do. No wedding, but I do. LOL
How do we encourage our friends to stay steeming?
First and foremost, we need to define our own purpose on steemit and Life generally.

A man is driven by two circumstances, the negative and the positive.
When we distinguish between these two situations that drive us, We are sure to stand out. Standing out is the best way to encourage our friends to work even harder.
Look beyond the financial rewards
We should look beyond the financial rewards we get as steemians. There are a lot more here than SBD and STEEM.
Just a few days ago, someone reminded me how I was already becoming a full time writer. Steemit has unveiled something that was hidden inside of me for years. A lot of us here who are working hard to come up with original and quality contents are first timers in this field. Yet we are doing better by the day. The YOU inside of you unveils as you steem on. There is so much more value here than the money if we look deeper.
Steemit is a social media and we are steady socializing, interacting and making friends from all over the world.
This is something we humans cherish. We love to get connections and right here we have been given the privilege.
It makes a lot of sense to be connected to others. Lets look at it from evolutionary perspective. Early men and women were not particularly strong or fast in the wild Paleolithic days, so there was need for all the support they could lay their hands on to stay alive. People were needed to help with the hunting gathering of food, raising the children and fending off enemies.
Steemit gives us the privilege to have direct rapport with our favorite content creators. I love this part. I can reach out to anyone I deem amazing anytime, through the comment section or so. I get direct feedback from my audience as well. That is amazing right?
Freedom/Voice
We have been given this privilege to share our stories and opinions to a lot of people willing to read them. We should firmly hold on to this. We are so powerful for we can put our opinions out there. The financial rewards for sharing our thoughts is a plus.
When we understand these few points then we can convince anyone by teaching them all these which they get as steemit users other than just talking to them about posting stuff and getting paid LOL
