Everyday I come online and see friends and age mates posting on WhatsApp status and Facebook on graduation, convocation, youth service, jobs and so on…
While man is here, man gained admission October 2016, Man was amongst the first people to resume by November 2016, and 6 years later, going on 7 years, man is still in 500level, no carry overs, GPA over 3.0, and so on, but man is stuck waiting on ASUU to call off strike so he can write final paper and move on…
Not envy, no, not jealousy
Just the feeling of being stuck in a place, can’t leave it cause we close to the end or have no option, can’t move on cause at the end of the day when ASUU calls off strike, nothing matters except trying to read and make sure you pass cause everything would be rushed and you’d have little time to cover up cause lecturers would say you should have been reading but they don’t know that you were hustling, trying to keep busy and make money to survive….
No white collar job would take you seriously, cause you’re still an undergraduate… No lab would hire you and take you seriously cause you’re still an undergraduate… You just have to learn a skill, or do what you can online to make money, then use it all up when school resumes… no need to label the pain or talk much about it, it’s what we all feel when we truly think about it, we are not amongst those that can go to a private university or go overseas, we are just stuck, nobody’s fault.. This is just our country Nigeria, regardless we smile and meuve… Yeah, keep honing that skill and engaging in that menial job and trading and all(at least let’s use it to stay sane) cause that’s what they’ll say we should do when we complain but they don’t know that we just hate feeling stuck😢… God help us
