I don't like going out alone at night so I avoid it whenever possible. The only time that I do is when I'm asked to work a double shift. Fortunately this happens rarely. This shift has me working from 1pm to 3am the next day.
When it is time to go home, my co-workers and I go out in a group to our cars and all start driving home.
Initially, the trip home was normal and uneventful. I took the highway which is enjoyable to drive at night. I drove about halfway home until I got forced off due to an accident.

So I had to take an alternate route home. It is so dark on the road especially where there are no street lights. There was only my headlights to see in front of me. The only other object was the moon which did not look normal. It was only a sliver of a crescent and a red colour.

I tried to remain calm but the night had an eerieness to it and the only place that I wanted to be was at home.
For the last couple of kilometers, I noticed that the bats were also very active. They were so close that I could hear the whooshing noise that their wings make while in flight even though that they could barely be seen.

I was so happy to see my front door.
