As a part of its efforts to get all electricity from renewable sources by 2025, Nike has signed its second major wind power agreement in Texas. This deal has been signed for 86 megawatts of wind power with Avangrid Renewables which is a subsidiary of energy and utility business Avangrid and part of the Iberdrola Group.
Nike's chief sustainability officer in a statement said that Nike is doing it as a part of its commitment to run all their owned or operated facilities in North America on renewable energy. He further stated, this renewable energy is good for athletes, the planet and for business.
Nike is a member of RE100, which is a global initiative by some of the world's biggest businesses. The organization has commitment get 100 percent of its electricity from renewable sources by the year 2025. Before this agreement, Nike is getting renewable energy for global headquarters in Oregon from three wind farms of Avangrid Renewables.
