As we wrote last month, Norway’s central bank has released new bank notes, which feature the national fish, the cod. The reason behind the update is mainly because of improved security.
However, fake versions of the bank note have been found in circulation. So don't let your newfound love for "cod money" trick you into accepting anything fake, if somebody presents you with suspiciously looking paper fish.
The central bank has also released a music video featuring the new design.
The Norwegian 200 kroner banknote is not the only one that has been re-designed. A new 100 kroner bill with a viking ship was released at the same time, 30. May, based on proposals from Metric Design and Terje Tønnessen.
All other denominations will receive a complete overhaul fairly soon.
