Bleik ligg på vestsida av Andøya om lag 10 km sørom Andenes. Namnet Bleik kjem truleg av det gammalnorske ordet bleikr, den kvite eller lyse sandstranda. Frå sjøen, er den lange kvite sandstranda veda Bleik eit landemerke. Stranda vert kalla Storsanden og er om lag 1 km lang.
Bleik og Stave som er nabobygda i sør er truleg blant dei eldste områda på Andøya som vart busette. Me kan rekna med stort sannsyn at folk hadde busett seg på desse stadene like frå steinalderen.
Elektrisitet på Bleik.
Folka på Bleik tok til med elektrisk kraft om lag 50 år før andre stader på Andøya. Folka på Bleik fekk elektrisk kraft frå Lomvikdalen frå 1904. Samstundes fekk ein elektrisk gatelys på Bleik.
Dersom du kjem til Bleik, har du ôg høve til å ta eit slag golf under lyset frå midnattsola i løpet av sommaren.
Den vidkjende fuglefjellet, Bleiksøya, ligg like utanfor Bleik noko som vert vist på bileta.
Bleiksøya er det nordlegaste fuglefjellet i Nordland fylke. På dette fuglefjellet er det talrike sjøfuglar av ulike slag. Mellom dei mest populære blant turistane er dei om lag 50 000 lundefuglene som hekker på Bleiksøya. Havørna som og hekkar på øya er ôg vel omtykt av turistane som vitjar dette fuglefjellet. Totalt reknar ein med at det er fleire hundre tusen sjøfuglar på Bleiksøya.
Bleiksøya er verna som eit naturreservat.

Bleik is a town and fishing village in Andøy municipality with approximately 450 inhabitants.
Bleik is located on the northwest coast of Andøya about ten km south of Andenes. The name probably comes from Old Norse “bleikr”, after the bright sandy beach.
From the sea, the bright sandy beach is a hallmark of Bleik. This beach is called, Storsanden or Grand Sand, which has a length of about 1 km.
Bleik and Stave may be among the oldest settlements we have in Andøy. We can reasonably assume that people lived there in the Stone Age.
Hydroelectric power at Bleik.
The people of Bleik started using hydroelectric power for the production of electricity already 50 years before the rest of the Andøya municipality. The inhabitants of Bleik first started using the facility in Lomvikdalen in 1904. At the same time, the electric streetlight was also lit.

The famous Birds Mountain, Bleiksøya is located just outside Bleik.
Bleiksøya is Nordland's northernmost bird mountain. On the island, there are numerous populations different kind of seabirds. Among the most popular birds are more than 50 000 puffins. The sea eagles living on Bleik island are also popular among the tourist visiting this bird mountain. In total the bird mountain which counts several hundred thousand seabirds.
The island is protected as a nature reservation.
