My little home province had a horrible weekend where children won't ever get to hug their parents again.
A mass shooter took those lives and life in rural Nova Scotia will never be the same.
CBC has an article with the morbid timeline here - https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/nova-scotia/rcmp-weapon-lockdown-portapique-1.5537598
Still in shock
I'm still processing my thoughts. We may never understand what was going through this killers head. Unfortunately we all know their name, I won't repeat it, but the RCMP had to release that information to warn people about what was happening and that they were on the move.
It appears that the situation ended in a shoot out with one RCMP officer dead, leaving behind a husband and two children.
This is not something that is supposed to happen in quiet rural NS. Sure there are a share of hunting accidents in the fall or directed violence, but never something of this level of evil.
Maybe later
I will continue on, thinking about those families that have been directly impacted, but there isn't a lot I can do. We are in lock-down, no hugs, no wakes. Its hard to comfort a loved one from afar.
Take this opportunity, if you can, to hug those that are close and call those that aren't.
And think about these families in Nova Scoita.
