Today is our second entry for the Naija Pidgin Challenge.
This post is supposed to be in Nigerian pidgin, but because it has a very important message to pass across, I'll write a part of it in English.
I'll like us to look into something very important today. Something that has cost some people their lives.
Friendly Enemies
They are friendly enemies. They give you a shoulder to lean on when you cry, but they were the ones who wore a mask to cause you those pains.
The world is filled with too many wolves disguised as sheep. They make you love them, trust them and confide in them, only for them to turn around and stab you in the back.
As a matter of fact, when you know someone is working against you, it becomes easier to intercept the person's plans against you. That is why friendly enemies are worse than the known enemies.
This post doesn't have the intention to make you get suspicious of your friends. I only want you to become more careful about life. They say experience is the best teacher, but some people never survived their awful experiences. You must not wait to have a first-hand experience yourself; learn from other people's experiences.
The most unfortunate thing is this, you may never get to know who your friendly enemies are all the days of your life. The truth is, most of them are the ones we regard as our best friends. They are usually the first to comfort us when we are going through hard times when it could be that they are actually the reason we are in such situations.
They are usually the ones mostly seen as the good guy; since they are perfect actors, they hardly have a cause to vent anger or show displeasure. They are usually vengeful, but they do it behind the mask. You might do something wrong to them knowingly or unknowingly, they don't forgive, but they'll pretend everything is cool, so they can still be close to you and get at you as much as they want.
What you should know
Understand this; the world is a wicked place. If we were not living in a wicked world, there would not be wars. People will not spend billions for atomic bomb and other sophisticated weapons used for mass destruction when there are children dying for lack food.
If the world is not a wicked place, there would be no need for racism and prejudice.
If the world is not a wicked place, then we would all have access to good food, good housing and good cloth. No one would lack. But some can only be happy when they have an excess of it and see others die in lack and want.
So don't you ever think this world is filled with friendly people. No, it is not. You can not change it either no matter how hard you try. Yet, do not allow them change you, only protect yourself from their wickedness.
Tips to help you play safe
- Be careful with friends who don't show any displeasure when you do something wrong to them.
- Learn to keep your success story to yourself.
- Let people see what you have achieved not how you are going to achieve it.
- Most importantly, TRUST NO ONE. "Et tu Brute" should not be your last statement.
This post will be seen by both the good and the bad. If you are among the good, try to protect yourself, if you are among the bad, try to change.

Well, my people I hail una again. Most of my wahala for dis life no come from known enemies. Make I go straight to the tori.
When I still dey do paid job, e get one of my colleagues like that, the guy dey close to our oga. Everytime him go dey pretend to be my friend o. In fact eh, him come one day, come tell us say our oga no dey pay us well, him say make we tell the man to increase our salary, say him go help us talk to the man.
We con mumu go do wetin him tell us make we do. The same guy go behind go tell our oga say we dey very useless, make him sack us. Well, to cut Long story short, dem sack us. But after some years, our oga wife con tell me wetin happen.
My people, trust nobody. Even for steemit here eh, friendly enemies boku everywhere. Forget all these their show for here o, try to keep your success secret make "had I known" no be the end of your story. Learn from another person mistake. As people dey share their tori, make you too dey learn.
