I am a #Voluntaryist and a card-carrying, lifetime NRA member.
(Ironic. I know.)

It's really because the nearest gun range (literally 3 blocks away) requires the accidental death life insurance that comes with NRA membership.

Why it's ironic is because I am a Voluntaryist (a practitioner of Voluntaryism) that is supporting an association that is supporting and advocating for government ie initiators of force (which includes "2A advocates" ie the NRA and all other #Statists* for that matter) to stop government from initiating force against me because I have weapons for personal defense to protect myself from usurpers up unto and including government.

The NRA is, by default, a statist organization. The only way it could ever truly be for the protection of gun rights is if it were STAUNCHLY, unequivocally, and unapologetically anti-govt!

I am not, nor should you or anyone else be, under the illusion that your donations do anything more than line NRA staff's pockets.

And just so that we are absolutely clear, what I am about to say next is not a call to arms or in any way meant to incite use of deadly force (albeit COMPLETELY morally justified):

The only way anyone (including those calling themselves the NRA) will ever fight for your right to bear arms is by actually bearing arms and shooting anybody that would dare threaten to infringe/infringing on your right to possess firearms or anything firearm related. Until the NRA starts dropping senators; congressmen; judges; DAs; city, town, state, and federal police agents etc; don't fall for the okie doke.

But needless to say, many do and will continue to. And they use an arsenal of logical fallacies to get the easily duped to part with what's left of their heavily taxed income. (By the way: Taxation is theft!!! ).

But not me. I have decided to instead of hanging up when they call (and call they will), to make the NRA donation callers really uncomfortable about what it is they're doing. Here is how the last call went:

Phone rings

Me: Hello?
NRA Caller:May I speak to KEY-RAN Pearson. (My name actually rhymes with Byron)
Me: Suspiciously* May I ask who's calling? (I NEVER confirm my identity)
NRA caller: I'm Blah blah blah..LaPierre...the Democrats... Nancy Pelosi...blah blah blah
Me: Interrupting* I only care about freedom.
NRA caller: OK that's why I'm calling....to get support for blah blah blah
Me: No matter who you vote for, Taxation remains theft. I don't vote for slavery.
NRA caller: You don't support democracy?
Me. Do you support gang rape? Because it's democracy manifest.
NRA caller: Not really the same thing.
Me: It is if you were to ever actually think about.

Pregnant pause

NRA caller: The NRA is located at blah blah blah.
Me. I know where it is. I'm a lifetime member.
NRA: blah blah blah
Me: You're actually going to finish your schpill, huh?!
NRA caller: finishes schpill* You have a good afternoon.

I sure hope (know (NSA)) the calls are being recorded and added to my file. And maybe someone will listen to them and it breaks something in their minds and it frees them from illusion. Maybe one day when there is a Voluntaryist world, historians will find those recordings and I will be remembered as a freedom fighter. *Illusion of posthumous grandeur

Taxation remains theft.
Statism remains slavery.

*Statists are people that believe you need, advocate for, and participate in having people that are believed to have a "justified" use of the initiation of force; the ability to without reprisal violate the Non Aggression Principle; calling said group of regular people "Government". These are the same people 2nd Amendment Advocates claim you need weapons against. #irony

(*Sidenote: NRA membership also comes with $2500 gun theft insurance, a free monthly magazine subscription with Harbor Freight 20% coupons (the real MVP!) And considering I found the lifetime membership for $500; paying $25 a qtr and put the rest of the $500 for the into litecoin 2 years ago. This is a free membership to say the least.)
