This is the dresser that started it all
This dresser was the first time I drew the monsters we all have come to know and love.
It was also the first time I refurbished a piece of furniture and found out I loved it!
This is a special one that I made for my boys about two years ago, way before I ever thought of doing furniture refurbishing as a business. I was on the hunt for a dresser for my boys. I am pretty cheap by nature, and figured if I can find sturdy dresser with cosmetic issues for cheap, I can paint it and make it WAY cooler than anything I could buy
The Process
- Removed Hardware
- Lightly sanded entire dresser
- 1 Coat of Rustoleum white oil based enamel paint
dry time - tape outside of drawers and cut the fur pattern in with razor blade
- Spray paint each drawer a different color with Rustoleum Spray paint (oil based enamel)
- Details: Fur border, mouth, outside of eyes brushed on with black rustoleum paint. Teeth in white.
These pictures are after about 2 years of kid abuse. Only a few small chips with minimal prep work. This is why I absolutely love rustoleum, and oil based enamel paints in general. They can just be wiped clean easily.
