Along the waves of the sea
Good morning dear friends.
Today I try to talk to you and explain how a small pictorial work is born.
Often in front of a painting that represents a landscape, we only focus on aesthetics, and not on content.
Even a simple subject, as in this case, can hide a story, expectations, explanations, messages.
Two years ago a customer from Rome, passionate about the sea, like me, asked me to represent a sailboat in the middle of the sea.
I asked him the usual questions: what kind of boat, sea conditions, colors, if the sky were clear or cloudy, formed by the painting and above all that technique, oil painting, acrylic or watercolor.
He told me to decide on everything, but as a painting technique: he wanted a watercolor.
Fantastic I thought.
We had known each other for many years.
He had many of my watercolors in the collection, so I decided to try a feat, that is, to color the clouds with green and shades of pink and red, in a very tormented and colorful seascape.
I gave a lot of importance to the centrality of the sailboat, seen from the back pointing the bow towards the gray and ocher clouds.
A sign of strength and decision, like the character of the client, whom I have known for many years.
Navigating along the waves of the sea, moved towards a possible threat, a possible storm, facing it.
Directed towards the goal, without delay, like the goals we set ourselves in our future, to reach, with ambition and perseverance.
He liked it very much.

Lungo le onde del mare
Buongiorno cari amici.
Oggi provo a parlarvi ed a spiegarvi come nasce un piccolo lavoro pittorico.
Spesso davanti ad un quadro che rappresenta un paesaggio, ci soffermiamo soltanto all'estetica, e non al contenuto.
Anche un semplice soggetto, come in questo caso, può nascondere una storia, delle attese, delle spiegazioni, dei messaggi.
Due anni fa un cliente di Roma, appassionato di mare, come me, mi chiese di rappresentare una barca a vela in mezzo al mare.
Gli feci le domande di rito: che tipo di barca, condizioni del mare, colori, se il cielo dovesse essere sereno o nuvoloso, formato del quadro e soprattutto che tecnica, pittura ad olio, acrilico o acquarello.
Mi disse di decidere su tutto, ma come tecnica pittorica: voleva un acquarello.
Fantastico pensai.
Ci conoscevamo da molti anni.
Aveva in collezione molti miei acquarelli, quindi decisi di tentare un impresa, ossia di colorare le nuvole con il verde e sfumature di rosa e rosso, dentro un paesaggio marino molto tormentato e colorato.
Ho dato molta importanza alla centralità della barca a vela, vista da dietro che punta la prua verso le nuvole grigie e ocra.
Un segnale di forza e decisione, come il carattere del cliente, che conosco da molti anni.
Navigare lungo le onde del mare, mosso, verso una possibile minaccia, una possibile tempesta, affrontarla.
Diretti verso la meta, senza indugi, come i traguardi che ci poniamo nel nostro futuro, da raggiungere, con ambizione e perseveranza.
Gli piacque molto.
