Another contest ended successfully and it is time to announce the winners.
Some thoughts about the contest.
I am very happy to see that the contest was well received by the art community and there were more entries than i expected. Some from established collage artists who are known and admired but also surprises from visual artists of other genres who experimented with the medium and created amazing results. On the downside there were a lot of entries created by using collage apps. I don't know if the title was confusing for some people but collage is an art medium and it has nothing to do with an app that combines holiday photos together. It is very important to read carefully the guidlines before submitting for a contest to avoid uploading a totally irrelevant, in idea and execution, entry.
First Place: 3000 nTopaz Tokens.
Barn Owl by .
A classic example of traditional handcut collage, created by cutting and pasting magazine clippings on canvas. Also it was the best presented entry with a lot of detail and process photos from the artist's studio.
Second Place: 2000 nTopaz Tokens.
A two-part amazing digital collage by a Master of the medium. An illusion combined of a dozen different elements, surreal but also very recognizable as form.
I Wear This Face Over This Mask. by .
A surprising entry by an artist who i know from his amazing drawings. A handcut collage created by cutting older artworks and then reshape and glue them in a different pattern with masking tape. The result is really unique.
Third Place: 1000 nTopaz Tokens.
Fishing by .
A very beautiful and well constructed digital collage. Also it was a well presented submission.
If always brush your teeth you will shine like Elvis by .
Another surprising entry, this time a handcut collage made from layers of coloured paper. Funny but with a serious message behind it.
Makaw by .
A handcut collage made with the traditional way with a lot of process photos. The artist was really creative and used magazine clippings from various sources.
Congratulations to the winners and thank you for all your submissions.
