Sharing this old work of mine for the love of Art and Africa.
This piece is what I entitled "African Queen". The piece lasted over a month and the wait for the completion was worth it. The message from the poetry I wrote about it, is what always thrills me.
African Queen
Your beautiful and hopeful eyes
Assemble the broken pieces of our existence
Filled with hopelessness and directionless
And give us a reason to survive
And face courageously the calamity of our nation.
The sparkles and twinkles in your eyes
Glitter like a gold
Diminishing all bondages and setbacks
And give us a reason to believe
And strive for a better and brighter life.
Your endowed and tremendous voice
Echos to the other side of life (Outskirts)
Informing them how dejected and miserable
Our lives have been
Assuring them (that) there are still
Better and competent people over here
Your Golden brown skin and Spotless face
Are full of strength and lives
In the midst of all calamities,
They bestow peace and give us tranquillity
Which bring comfort to our souls.
You need no crown to define yourself
Nor expensive earrings,
To portray you are a queen
Your eyes, voice, and blond skin
Depict the true you.
You are exceptional
A true definition of "African Queen".
I was inspired by the things I observed happening around my society.
