This is a portrait of a man who supplies and sells art materials. I normally purchase art materials from him.
So one day I got to his shop to buy art materials, I showed him some of my works and he got interested in my work and decided I should make a portrait for him. So I took some shots of him and chose this one to draw.
shot with Samsung Galaxy S6 (edited)
Been working on it since last week and today I was able to complete it. It is my entry for @ntopaz art contest with the theme "Art With Human Focus".
The work is focused on getting his features, resemblance and facial expression. It is a portrait drawing. I used pencil as my medium for this work.
- Materials Used
Fiber Castle Pencil (8B, 4B and 2B)
Feyin Pencil (12B)
Graphic Pencil (0.7)
Plastic Eraser
Niddle Point Paper (12/16 inches size)
- Below are my development processes
Step 1
I sketched out my model before working on his hair with graphic pencil and 12B pencil.
Step 2
I worked on his face. I started from top which is his forehead using graphite pencil to lay light tones. Then I used 2B, 4B pencil and 8B in turns to give it a darker tone.
Step 3:
I repeated the process to work on his right ear, eyes, chins and nose. I also used 12B pencil on the darkest portions.
Step 4
I worked on his mouth and his beards. This took most of my time as it was my major focus. I used virtually 12B pencil. I also worked on his neck.
Step 5
I completed the work by working on his shirt.

Thank you.
