While vacationing in Tennessee this past winter, right around the corner from Vanderbilt University, we went for a walk and came upon some of the most magnificent trees I have ever seen. The obvious imperfections in this tree added to it's splender.
With me standing alongside this one you can get an idea of it's size.
I have a wing span of around 6ft 8 in. That would equate to this tree haveing a circumference of around 16 feet.
You can see the spirals in the trunk of this mammoth tree. Trees of this nature , if milled would be highly figired. Figured timber posses grain characteristics that are unique to that individual tree and make the lumber extremely valuable.
Do you think this tree would provide a ridiclous amount of shade.
Take a look at this site. Become a tree hugger, without them we would not be around!
