Today was a real test with the weather and the rain we've had several of the major through streets were blocked by water. A tornado went through last night and knocked out power at Billy's house. That's where we store the trailer and Billy does a lot of the cooking without power that was hard!
The line forming:
On top of that I hurt myself Saturday and was not able to use my right arm to cook with so I was cooking one handed left handed. We still managed 10 gallons a beef stew it just took a little longer than normal!
These are handmade Amish noodles and I tried to put a pound of beef in for every pound of vegetables I put in it so this came out pretty tasty! It was hard to load the car with one hand had roll the stuff out there to load it but we got there, we got set up, and we got them fed!
I will do a post on how to make this beef stew I've had some people ask me but not tonight tired! I plan to unload the rest of the car in the morning.
Billy turn the peas that he was supposed to heat up into pea salad because you don't need to heat that, and they really enjoyed that too; so I'll probably add that to the menu long-term.
Setup in process:
We begin serving, after prayer for the food, and the weather :
Line, after about half an hour:
A lot of good people were happy and well fed today:
We did have to call an ambulance today because before we started feeding, one of the ladies in the line start having epileptic seizures one right after the other. So we did the best we could to stabilize her until they got there and they took her to the hospital so that was exciting I pray that she's safe and okay!
With all the problems we were having today Billy asked if we should call it off, and we actually discussed not doing it this time. But I figured as hard as the devil was working to keep us away from there, that we should feed even if it was only cold sandwiches!
We are all tired but it's a good tired! Today was hard but it was one of the better feeds we've done. On the plus side all the equipment worked ,with plenty of power, and enough people showed up that we could serve without bad problems. I used bone knit herbs on my bum shoulder, and I've got about 90% use back on it now.
I have to admit I'm glad tomorrow's a holiday because I'm going to need it just to recover. But it was a really good day we've fed a lot of people, and all the food is gone!
I want to thank you for all the prayers! We had some of the prettiest weather today we've had in a week, and most of the people showed up in spite of the weather forecast for a deluge.
