Officialy Romania managed to implement a program to capture and generally decrease the number of stray dogs. In reality they are still here.
For the majority of us, this is a normal day, in a normal week. Living in the concrete jungle, with whatever flora and fauna that implies.
These are not your normal, pet shop type dogs. These races are developing on their different branches of evolution. They know how to find food based and adapted by the fact that they live in a man dominated area. They developed tactics for that.
They use the marked crossings for getting over the streets and they use the pipes of the city to keep themselves warm during winter nights. They live in packs and they can be dangerous. I myself had a nervous sit down a few weeks back with some of their fellows click here. Also , during one of his cycling days, almost got shred by a gang of ferocious stray dogs.
They almost always spot me when I’m photographing them. That sense they developed, a third eye or who the hell knows what, makes them very focused. It’s really funny when the pound is coming to take them away. A lot of them manage to escape. Of course, the hunters are not really the brightest of the brightests. They have these escape ways, tunnels under fences and small spaces they can crawl into so they’re very hard to catch.
They are happy now. They have some kind of rights. They can’t just be killed... immediatly. Some time ago, during the communist regime, they didn’t have such a favor their paws.
