This ceramic plate was burned at high temperature. The mineral oxides that make up the enamel, when they are fused, sometimes cease to be oxides and are only mineral again. This ancient Japanese technique called RAKU creates unusual colors and designs in metallic and colorful tones. No wonder this technique is my favorite despite always being a great endeavor.
