HELLO HIVE
Applying herbicide is just one step in farm preparation, the real question is how do you know that it worked before you will start any kind of cultivation on the farm land so this post is meant to help us with some tips to know if the herbicide actually worked or if there will be any need to apply the herbicide again before we proceed with the work.
🧪 How to Tell If Your Herbicide Worked
There are some very important signs to look out for when it comes to herbicide application, the signs are,
1. Change in Color
The weeds have to experience color change with the first 2 to 5 days, the weeds which used to be bright green like any other flourishing plant begins to decolorate and turn yellow.
2. Leaf Texture
The leaf texture will change losing it firmness
3. No New Growth
There will be no sign of new growth for a long while until the herbicide is no longer effective and this could be more than a month after we've applied the herbicide.
4. Uniform Kill
The kill has to be uniform and that is why it is very important to employ someone if you feel you can't do it at first while you watch and learn how it is done.
⏱ When Is It Time to Cultivate?
When you can confirm that all this four points have been met then you can go on with cultivation.
✅ Signs You’re Ready:
When the weeds are fully dry and decomposed, this could be after a week or two.
💡 Pro Tip:
It is very important to note that if there is rainfall 4hrs after spraying the herbicide then there is high chances you have to spray again because the rain would have wash the herbicide away before the weeds could fully absorb it.
It is the case most times which is why I recommend spraying the herbicide again to prevent any guess work that will waste time.
🌾 Final Thoughts
Applying herbicide is good but understanding how this things work is very important apart from helping you understand when to cultivate it also helps you to know the best kind of herbicide out therr because there's a lot with different company names.
