I was sat watching the news the other day and there was a lady on who was speaking about how her family live in a sustainable manner. It was a very admirable report which is surprising, as normally anything to do with real sustainability is painted with the crazy brush and put in-front of the camera wearing camouflage and chained to a tree. But this family were being portrayed correctly. For once the MSM were giving an honest report and the results speak for themselves.
As she was going through the differences between a consumer lifestyle and the more frugal style chosen by the Eco-family, there was one excellent solution and I would like to share with you.
Did you know that you can use Conkers as a replacement for washing detergent....? I certainly didn't until now.
And all it took was one honest news report. Makes me wonder what else I miss out on. Anyway back to this Conker detergent.
You simply remove a load of Conkers from their prickly incubators and then soak those bad boys in water(That's after you have saved the biggest ones for a proper game of Conkers, come on, you just got to do it!)
Here's how -
And that's if you want to keep your whites, white. For mixed washes, it's even easier. Just Chop into quarters or better still, blend them up and crack on!
It says you need around 70grams per wash-load, so get practicing your tree climbing and next season you can wash your clothes for free! Sweet!!
I know this may be common knowledge to many, but still a great solution with great benefits all around.
