If you belong to a grid then you are a slave. Like a mouse desires cheese, human life requires a few items. The cheese is not the grid, the walls that the mouse needs to go around is the grid. Although I realize that the physical existance of human life is complex and might not be able to be reduced to needing 4 items, however physical life is majorly affected by four needs (or four pieces of cheese).
Human greed has caused mankind to build walls around the cheese and like mice, humans, often spend a large amount of there lives running around thoes walls. Humans run through the grid in search for cheese. Often people's entire lives are built around various cheese mazes, and I am submiting that at least four chees mazes exist. The cheese mazes are:
The electricty grid
The housing grid
The food and water grid
The transportation grid

First the electricty grid. Of course solar power has changed alot since the 1970's, but people might not realize the solar pannels have changed in the last 2-3 years. A few years ago I went to the store 'Harbor Freight' and bought a solar panel kit for around around $150 (USD) and I recieved solar panels that would produce 45 watts of electricty (plus two l.e.d. light bulbs that are as bright as a 60 watt bulb but only use 5 watts of electricty)
About a week ago 'Harbor Freight" started selling 100 watt solar pannels for about $170 (USD) (these kits come with l.e.d. light bulbs but I was unable to post a picture, but instead of 3 x 15 watt pannels you get 4 x 25 watt pannels)
Now the housing grid. People need to stop the idea of signing up for a 30 year loan to buy a house. Do you know that mixed in with the house payment that you pay is an intrest payment. So you might think that you are just buying a $100,000 house with a 30 year loan, but what you are doing is buying a $100,000 house and being coned into giving the bankers $200,000. So if you can buy a small home and pay cash for it, it might be uncomfortable at first but you might have 30 to adjust. If you do not feel that you can aford a small starter home, why not consider a garden shed that has been converted into a cabin. (the Amish build such buildings)

The food and water grid. Buy some chickens and collect the eggs, also collect rain water, which you will filter and drink.
The transportation grid. Buy a bicycle or walk. You can still keep a small car (assuming that you still work a part time job) but sometimes you can walk faster than a car can drive down side streets. Maby you can get a street legal electric golf cart.
