2018 Pyeongchang Olypmics
The Olympic games are getting closer by the day and today the Olympic torch passed by my house. It was great to see as this was the first time I've ever seen the carrying of the torch in person. It rarely happens somewhere close enough to witness, so I was super lucky to be able to watch the event go right by me.
Busan is the southern most city in Korea, so over the course of the next 90+ days it will make its way toward the Pyeongchang stadium before the start of the 2018 games.
The Olympic Torch
The flame itself is a symbol of the theft of fire from the Greek god Zeus by Prometheus. Every Olympics, the flame makes its way from the previous host city to the incumbent, several months before the start the games. This current torch relay started from the previous host city of Sochii, Russia. Torch bearers are chosen for any number of reasons, from local officials to community leaders, (too bad I wasn't chosen.
I can't wait for the Olympic games to start. I have several tickets to multiple different events and I am looking forward to purchasing more. More on that in the next addition of WHINK
