One of these days …
I have a love for the art of letterpress. Some day, I would love to buy an old printing press, a number of vintage letter sets, and open up a print shop of my own. One of these days, maybe I actually will.
In the meantime, however, I find myself making letter press type arrangements and filling them in with pointillism. From a distance, the look and feel of the posters I make is not so different from letterpress, but up close the textures and finishes are totally different.
This morning, I finished a new piece, or at least I think I have. The density of the dots in the Lean On Me poster shown above isn’t quite as tight as the other posters I’ve made, so I’m tempted to go back in with my pen and fill in some of the open spaces, but then again, I like the lighter speckled look that I’ve created and the way it mixes with the solid blockiness of the letters.
What do you think?
For anyone who is interested, all posters shown in this post are for sale, and I’m happy to do commissioned pieces as well.
