There are places out there that are donation based thrift stores. Places like the #SalvationArmy and #GoodWill will take donations from the public and then sell those donations to low income people.
The problem with that is they can charge ridiculous prices for used items they paid nothing for. For example, the #SalvationArmy had some kitchen chairs in their window the other day. $50. No, not for the set. Each. $200 for four used kitchen chairs.
But then, on special days like today, you find things like this.
This is the second one I've found since coming to #Duluth in September, the first being the Domiano, which specializes in helping the homeless community.
This ensures that your donations are going into the homes of the poor, instead of the pockets of a CEO. #peopleoverprofit
So please, if you have some extra stuff laying around, do a quick Google Search. Find the mission in your city, I bet you have at least one, probably more that you've never even noticed.
Give those used items to those who will put it to the greatest use.
