It is really weird that the nature and kind of people in charge of assessing the ‘fitness’ of parents to carry out parenting – is relatively unknown. What really qualifies one to be a CPS workers other than a degree. Is it over-thinking it to say that the importance of something as sensitive and thorough should not be placed in the hands of some unknown graduate? Can one really claim expertise of the technical nature of abuse with a very limited amount of training? A decent social worker requires the following in my view:
*Respect for the sanctity of the family
*An understanding of the dynamic nature of families
*Empathy
*Good investigation and analytical skills
Can an unspecified college degree really teach that?
Little wonder that the social workers themselves are of questionable characters. No thorough background check has resulted in a lowering of the bar into accepting scumbags, paedophiles, and emotionally unstable people with a vendetta. I hope the media brings their A-game into investigating the underbelly of the child welfare system. As the last seven days has shown, we have many monsters in the system posing as concerned angels.
First, a CPS worker (man) in Michigan was arrested for sexually molesting a minor, then there’s the case of the DFCS regional administrator arrested for child pornography.
Maybe the job serves as a side attraction to the worst kind of child molesters, a place where they can catch ‘easy prey’. How many Authoritarian case workers are actually fit enough to be around kids? Just gives everyone one more thing to worry about.
