Before a "Great Brutal Event" most nations seem to have a loose internal connection when compared to after the "Great Brutal Event". In my country(Brazil), for example we had several separatist movements north and south with a famous one, the "Farrapos War" being a source of great pride to people in my state today. But after the Paraguay War(our "Great Brutal Event"), it seems that all separatist movements started fading away and we began seeing ourselves more as Brazilians than members of a smaller nation in each province.
For that reason I believe after this War of Russian Agression ends the Ukrainians will have a stronger national identity and it will weak severely every sectarian movement within the country. It seems nothing unites more a country than a foreign aggression. I might hate my neighbor but we soon forget our differences when a serious threat comes from out of our small town.
