My "Older" Style
Pictured is a painting I did in 2006 or so. At the time, all of my paintings were this flat, tangled mesh of broad paint strokes melting into some sort of chaos. The motifs were subject to some open interpretation. I don't know what you see but, I see some sort of fantastic mess.
Though, if you look at it another way, you might see something a bit different. What do you see there? Besides the "blob" monster on a rampage through the city? Who is giving the command?
Not sure what I am talking about? He is on the left. This is a more important figure than blob monster and the best part of all? I painted him subconsciously, upside down. Doesn't the mind work in reverse? I would say yes. Our mind does flip our vision around...
Wishes
I gave that one to my stepmother in 2010 or so, when I made that weird trip across the US from KCMO to Portland. There is a part of me that wishes I still had that piece. This painting would of made a great skeleton layer to add translucent oil pastels to and make it into my current style... It has all the perfect contrasts for the "skeleton layer".
Much Love!
