When was the first time you used a Social Networking Site?

In the last few posts I have written about Facebook and Orkut and now I want to ask you guys another question. 

"When was the first time you used a Social Networking Site?"

I remember when I first registered on Orkut, it was kinda cool back then and its been like a decade. 

I felt sad when they finally closed Orkut, although I had stopped using it a few years back but still it felt like an old friend left me.

There were a few more social sites back then but none of them came even close to the success Orkut had in a short duration. 

I know Facebook too grew really fast but the time when Orkut was launched there were not many people on the internet. Now the internet is cheaper and accessible from any where. 

The time when Orkut was launched people didn't had smartphones with them and the best selling phone was Nokia 3310.
