Hello, everybody!
Welcome back to emanate artworx. Today, I want to share an acrylic painting from the early part of this year. Mostly I make digital paintings because of ease and convenience (no cleanup?!), but sometimes it's nice to get some paint onto a canvas ๐จ.
This painting was inspired by a picture of a beach I saw on unsplash. Where I live, the only beach nearby is a lakeshore. While there are some stunning scenes the lake can offer, it's really not the same as the mighty blue ocean!
Okay, this is actually the 1st of a 4-part beach series I painted. (So, you know, more to come.) Since I'm not super familiar with painting these types of views without using a reference, I'd characterize this as a study. I would love to see and plein air some sunsets like this IRL one day, but for now I'll settle for the lake and my imagination ๐ฅฒ.
It was actually kind of difficult to capture the bright and vivid atmosphere of this scene. Acrylic painting is fun because it's a nice switch from digital art, but let's be real, sometimes you miss that undo button, amiright ๐ซ ๐. Despite the challenges, I'm pretty satisfied with the vibes on this one and the fire of the sunset in the clouds.
I got a lil caught up in the brushstrokes, so I didn't get as many progress pics as I would have liked, but that's okay! The last one was taken outside in the backyard for that natural light look ๐.
