Hello! Happy New Year to all who believe in that sort of thing!!! Today I have another winter landscape. Still working on trees...
This landscape includes a sunrise over a pretty stream. The artist Aham painted this as a sunset with bright colors, but I didn't follow his color scheme.
I might have had these colors left over, I can't remember.
I think it came out very good. This painting is created on a 5 x 7 canvas with acrylic paints.
I have been practicing my trees and I am getting better. I am still making some chunky branches. Here are some of the completed scenes I've created off-camera.
I ventured away from Aham this week, and attempted to follow other painters, making a forest on black background, and a stairway to the moon. I hope to have those videos done in a few days.
I watched some of the videos from In the Studio Art Instruction, on how to mix colors and use the color wheel. The instructor also explained the halo effect.
The halo effect is when a painter paints the background behind an object to outline, and then paints the rest of the background normally leaving a halo around the object. She suggests painting away from the object instead of around it.
My ventures took me to You Tube videos of drawings, to learn to paint a staircase. I then tried my hand at drawing houses. I remember making letters in school using the block technique, but I needed a refresher on drawing 3D.
I hope in future paintings, I will incorporate my new drawing skills, painting away from my drawn objects... without creating any halos!
I hope you are enjoying following along as I learn to paint. If you are painting along with me, or the artists I am painting along with, please leave a pic of your creation in the comments.
Also be sure to subscribe to my You Tube channel if you'd like to be notified when I upload a new video!
And now... it's Paint Time!
