“Abstraction allows man to see with his mind what he cannot see physically with his eyes....Abstract art enables the artist to perceive beyond the tangible, to extract the infinite out of the finite. It is the emancipation of the mind. It is an exploration into unknown areas.”
― Arshile Gorky
I am not a football fan so the other night while my hubby was watching the Super Bowl, I went down to my studio and put on some dreamy music, lit some frankincense incense and filled my palette with a variety of colors and let my mind flow free with the paintbrush.
I painted a layer of pattern, then turned the canvas 90 degrees and painted another layer, then turned the canvas again. It seemed that the paint and the brush flowed with the music.
To finish it off, I added shadows under some of the swirls to give the impression of depth between the layers.
Then I photographed it and started playing with it digitally. I used Prisma and IColorama apps on my iPad. Some of my favorites remind me of stained glass and tile patterns.
I had been longing to get back into my studio after being away for a while. It felt great and refreshed my creative juices.
Thanks for stopping by!
