As a major DC fan, I was pretty disappointed with how the DCEU faded from the spotlight after the abysmal showing that was the 2017 version of the Justice League, that fans now refer to as the Whedon cut. Warner Brothers clearly have no idea how to handle the IP, and instead of trusting Zack Snyder, the man they asked to craft the universe, they tried to copy the Marvel formula.
It's no secret that the Marvel family-friendly formula works and can be rinsed and repeated every year or two, and milk fans of all ages for their money to see their favourite characters battle it out on screen with a tonne of jokes in between. But the Marvel Cinematic Universe was built over 20 years and made plenty of mistakes along the way.
The DCEU Lived and died with Superman
After the success of the Nolanverse version of Batman, DC decided they too needed a cinematic universe, and it kicked off with Man of Steel. In contrast, the movie wasn't perfect and left fans with mixed feeling. It was a solid start to the franchise the same way Iron-man was the start of the MCU, after the mistakes of The Hulk.
Batman V Superman got some harsh criticism, again after Warner Brothers stepped in and made Zack cut down his film, removing key parts of the story. If you watch BVS, you should see the extended cut; it's far better and really sets up the Justice League. I do feel that Zack rushed the world-building and could have taken it over a longer stretch of films, but I suppose WB wanted instant success, only to fail miserably.
When Justice League rolled around, cut down and watered down with a Marvel filter, it completely flopped as the movie was totally disjointed. Some parts dark, some parts family-friendly but no cohesive story to follow.
Now years later, after fans and internet trolls continued to put pressure on WB to release the Synder cut (#releasethesnydercut movement), we finally have our wish. It's amazing to see what the power of crowds can do, and I think it was well worth the pressure and the 4-year wait, as well as a 4-hour watch.

What is Zack Snyders Justice League About?
After Superman's death, Batman is faced with the monumental task of protecting the world, a task even the worlds greatest detective can't do on his own. Determined to ensure Superman's ultimate sacrifice was not in vain, Bruce Wayne aligns forces with Diana Prince with plans to recruit a team of metahumans to protect the world from an approaching threat of catastrophic proportions.
As Bruce and Diana try to recruit a team of a potential justice league, and Evil in the form of Steppenwolf comes to earth with one mission, the destruction of Earth.

What I thought of ZSJL
The Snyder Cut ties up many loose ends and answers all the questions that the Theatrical Cut left us with by digging into the background of the characters and giving valid reasons where it seemed everything. The previous one was a tale of two movies trying to battle it out for screen time and threw us into turmoil and even randomly placed at times.
The full potential of Snyder's direction is expressed through his unique and particular shots, also implementing and improving both CGI and cinematography, which are the perfect accompaniment to the director's vision. I wouldn't say I liked the new Steppenwolf look compared to the comic book version, but it's a huge step up from the Whedon version. He seemed more ominous and dangerous than the meak version we saw previously.
The four hours of the Snyder Cut are nothing more than sheer entertainment and paints a platform for these heroes to develop as people and as a team. Wherewith the old release seemed all too strange that they (production & co.) had offered so little from such a talented and resourceful director. t.
The movie is quite content heavy and deserves a few rewatches as you miss out on a lot of the narrative when balancing it with all the action. The movie is, in a sense, Avengers End Game and Infinity war into one, plus throwing in intro movies for some of the members who have yet to get a stand-alone feature.
Marvel used the stand-alone movies to build up to Avengers; Zack looks to be using the Justice League to expand an entire universe of possible movies and characters.
There are several additional characters to be seen, such as Zeus, Martian Manhunter and The Atom, and some never before seen action sequences, particularly featuring Batman and The flash.
The movie also centres more around Cyborg, whereas in the previous version, he seemed more like a side character.
My rating for Justice League
Even if you've seen the 2017 version, there are over 2 hours of extra footage and it feels like a completely different watch and I mean that in a good way.
The movie now leaves us wondering, will we see a reboot of the defunct DCEU or is this just Snyders redemption to see his vision finally reach the fans. Clearly, this man had a vision for the DCEU and if this movie, along with projects he was involved in like Wonder Woman and BVS the extended cut, then we can only imagine how epic a journey it would be for fans.
The movie lays to rest the parademons of the previous version and gives us the epic fans deserve. I would have to give it an 8.6 crying fanboys out of 10
