It's been a long road for me on the DTube: my very first Steemit post over a year and a half ago, my #introducemyself post no less, was an absurd crash course in multicamera recording with literally no experience at my disposal besides my general recording studio know-how and a projector I borrowed from Bit Brigade. I had absolutely no idea how to use Final Cut (Premier now...) and accordingly it took about thirty hours. I've stayed almost completely exclusive to DTube since then ... keeping everything related housed on DTube and DSound just feels right ... so you can imagine how pumped I was to see the newest update. Creating an in-house token, easing cross publication and making the search engine DTube-centric all seem like huge feature adds to me, and I'm proud to continue to create exclusive content here.
You want some content, DTube blockchain residents? How about some crossing of the Streems? (SEE WHAT I DID THERE?) Lately I've been hammering away on some musical ideas for ... a rad planetary exploration DApp game on the Steem blockchain with NFT planets, space combat, and long as fuck skill timers to make sure my sleep schedule remains thoroughly destroyed. It's awesome. This is actually my third piece, as the military themed combat track is proving to be a bit more elaborate than anticipated. Throughout my session today, I kept hearing a ring modulated/bitcrushed drone as foundational element for a new piece ... soon as the studio was clear I busted out some guitar pedals, specifically my Earthquaker Afterneath (infinte reverb) and Alexander Syntax Error (timestretching bitcrush) and set about feeding some Dorian chords and movements into it from the Mutable Instruments Plaits chord mode. After considerable fussing, I had a droning progression that felt extremely spacious and threaded the ominous/opulent mood I'd imagine long hours watching space roll by might conjure enroute to unexplored space. This pedal combination is magic as the Syntax Error produces a wealth of little glitchy interpretations while remaining melodically relevant. Afterneath is afterneath. If you haven't checked this pedal out and are interested in sustaining post-rock timbral anything, do so. Secret weapon in the studio.
Just to change it up a bit, I played some grandiose synth leads from the Mangrove into the Clouds by hand with my Arturia Keystep. I even set up a second camera as a cutaway. This camera also grabs some of the manipulation I'm doing to the underlying sequencers: Make Noise Rene is both playing the bass underscore and sending unquantized modulation across the patch. Eloquencer drives the singing can "satellite" noise (Air Snare from the Intellijel Plonk with tons of modulation) far in the background, with some probability affecting its decay and causing the "satellite" to "trail" across the "sky". I overuse "quotes" in my "descriptions" because how else can one describe this stuff.
Enjoy the journey. I'll be posting high quality mastered audio soon!
