Good day dear Hive community, first of all I would like to welcome you all to my new contribution and hope you had a weekend that has been full of positive experiences! Today I would like to discuss an interesting topic and hope you are able to expand your knowledge a little.
Today I have taken some pictures of waters and it is an enchanting view how the enchanting trees or ducks are reflected and I would like to use these pictures to go into more detail about mirrors. Since the small pond was very clear and only a slight current could be seen, the mirror image has been particularly clear and for thousands of years mirrors have been used to look at the own self and in different cultures there were other views about mirrors and numerous legends have emerged about it. It can be said that the mirror accompanies people since the beginning and in the past people mainly used water to reflect themselves or objects and the invention of the mirrors as you know them today has developed steadily over the last thousands of year and in ancient times were mirrors considered luxury objects and the production was very extensive and especially during the Renaissance period mirrors were used more and more in architecture and used at that time especially by nobles. Different artistic ornaments were often used for the production and reflections in general are an important part of art history and the effect of reflections has become very important and through the use of mirrors it is possible to create very abstract works as well as optical illusions that change the perception like the picture at the end of the post. Around the globe, numerous palaces or other buildings can be found which are decorated with mirrors and the old alchemists also recognized the importance of mirrors and used metal mirrors for their experiments.
Particularly interesting for these purposes were also the so-called burning mirrors with which the sun's rays were reflected and the heat that can be generated in this way is so extreme and even enough to melt metals and one of these mirrors of Archimedes is said to have saved Greece from a invasion and with the help of sunlight the burning mirror is said to have set the enemy troops on fire. People who look at themselves in the mirror can always be found in mythology and there are even views in Asian mythology that once the universe is said to have emerged from a mirror image and in occult faith lost souls are said to live in the mirror. In some legends there is the view that one could see things or creatures in the mirror which are invisible to the naked eye and the best-known history about mirrors probably comes from the Greek mythology of young man named Narcissus who should fall in love with his own reflection. Mirrors are also often regarded as magical objects and also often linked to prophecy or hidden knowledge and the special thing is probably that it always depends on the angle of what we look at mirrors and this property is also often associated with the recognition of different symbolism. Also in Mexican mythology, mirrors were often made from the mineral obsidian in the past that should have magical powers and was even considered by numerous cultures as a medium to be able to communicate with other worlds and in Japan, mirrors were often associated with sun gods and these were just some of the many examples of how mirrors helped shape the different cultures.
Thanks a lot for stopping by and I hope you could learn something new about this topic! I captured these pictures with my Camera Sony Alpha 6000 plus 55-210 mm lens.
