Those things work both ways.

They certainly do, and I'm pretty sure if they ever build a wall, most of the guards will be facing inwards, just like at a prison.

I guess I'm just never surprised when forks are "bumpy" anymore, I've yet to experience one that wasn't at least a bit of a cluster-f$@k.
