I would like to introduce you to a fairly obscure 1985 movie from New Zealand.
In this movie Zac wakes up to discover that everybody on Earth had disappeared during the night, leaving him as the last man on Earth.
From there the story proceeds slowly, but with several twists and turns, leading up to an ending that people still discuss over thirty years later. I would love to talk to you about what happens, but this is one of those movies that you really need to see.
The movie moves at a very slow measured pace, so if you are looking for action, look elsewhere. Despite coming out with a low budget in the mid-80s, this film has aged well, most likely because the special effects are minimal, and it relies more on building up an atmosphere.
The lead actor, Bruno Lawrence, delivers an excellent performance, showing shock and confusion at first, before the character descends into madness from his loneliness.
I am really surprised that this movie has not been remade yet, since the story can just add easily take place in the current era.
