SPOTLIGHT ON THE ARTIST Episode 48
1.

Zig (
Hive account@onemedia ) and Denise (
Hive account@d-vine ) opened the show welcoming their special guest cohosting the show, EMA community founder Nicky Havey (
Hive account@nickyhavey ) back from his extended vacation in New Zealand and Australia, then Zig jokingly played the tune 'Dance In Your Undapants' as in, 'caught with our pants down' in regard to his preparedness for the show. We also joked with Nicky Havey (
Hive account@nickyhavey ) about Lord Of The Rings and The Hobbit, as the motion pictures of those J.R.R. Tolkien novels were filmed in New Zealand. We also talked a bit about his Travel Blog.

Then we listened to Nicky Havey's (
Hive account@nickyhavey ) most recent collaborative efforts with Daveyhub and
Skyline Tigers for which he was able to mix on his laptop while on travel, a tune they call,
'A Space Lullaby'. We all agreed how lovely
Skyline Tigers' voice is and how well it complements the tracks
Daveyhub and Nicky Havey (
Hive account@nickyhavey ) first laid down for the tune.
2.
Skaarl ( @Skaarl ) with Winkandwoo (
Hive account@winkandwoo ), who made his premiere appearance on Spotlight On The Artist then arrived to present a tune that Skaarl ( @Skaarl ) wrote and Winkandwoo (
Hive account@winkandwoo ) added 'old school synths', a vocoder, and vocals to a tune called, 'Messing Around'. Winkandwoo (
Hive account@winkandwoo ) mentioned he started his musical journey in 1982 with singing new melodies to records in a wide variety of genres from Pop to Jazz. Winkandwoo (
Hive account@winkandwoo ) appreciates the beats Skaarl ( @Skaarl ) creates and Skaarl ( @Skaarl ) is inspired by his vocal style. They mentioned a live performance on 6 July at The Sussex Music Festival including
Hive account@juxtamusic and
Hive account@theturtleproject. He also mentioned his Sunday Funday collaborative album featuring
Skaarl, The Turtle Project, Juxta, Blackeyebutterfly, Billy Korg, Sam Prock, and
NakedVerse. Then
Hive account@skaarl mentioned finishing the remix of a new collaboration with Miss eFeMBy and
Bufinger and to expect that on an upcoming episode of
Spotlight On The Artist and both
Hive account@skaarl and
Hive account@winkandwoo emphasized how collaborations are their main focus these days. This whole coversation started starting at 40:37 into the show.
3.
IconDark (@iconDARK ) then came back to
Spotlight On The Artist for the first time since Episode 11 and we talked about Dark Ambient, Breakbeats, DrumnBass Synthwave genres that inspire him. Then he presented his recent tune called,
'These Dark Streets' which added a beat and bass into a remix of
'Those Dark Streets' which more closely fits the Dark Ambient genre. This brought into the conversation about how he reuses his material and that how artistic process lends itself to prolific productivity. Considering his prolific output, we convinced him to come to
Spotlight On The Artist more often. The entire conversation started at
1:24:50 into the show.
4.

ElectrostaticNightmareDisco AKA Steve G (on Discord) made his premiere guest appearance on
Spotlight On The Artist and presented two of his tunes, the first one presented here called,
'Perfect Hatred' and the Dark Techno/Trance feel it gives off. We also discussed how he is new to Steemit and Discord. His interview starts at
1:48:19 into the show.

Next
ElectrostaticNightmareDisco AKA Steve G (on Discord) presented another one of his tunes called
"The Whole Damn World's Gone Mad" which has also has a Techno Trance feel but a bit less dark than the
'Perfect Hatred'.
Hive account@nickyhavey did bring up how "The Whole Damn World's Gone Mad" achieved the transcendent musical ideal of telling a story beyond words.
5.

Apex came back today and first mentioned how he got back from vacation feeling refreshed when and where wrote this tune then immediately recommended we hear his tune called,
'Rift' which has a Dubstep bassline he said was inspired by Skrillex. He also mentioned how he's preparing for his release of another tune on
Glock Work Records, his association with
Hive account@tenpoundsterling to the Electronic Music Alliance. He is also talking about coming to tour the United States. His interview starts at
2:30:26 into the show.
