I'm posting on partiko but having to use steempeak to interact and engage with you fine folks because the notifications are down on partiko again. But, I've talked about this issue at length so ill move on.
Just last night i had a friend that had enquired multiple times about wanting to get a steem account so I figured I'd attempt the steemworld option where 3 steem gets me a ticket and I can then easily create an account. Well, kind of, everything was going well until I was asked to submit my master key to obtain the account uh that's a big no.
Frankly, I'm a bit miffed this would even be an option so I went to pal discord where one must go to get answers here, because, you know steem doesn't have any official place to find out how to do actual important steem stuff. No offense to the wonderful pal people I'm just pointing out i wasn't even aware this 3 steem account creation was a thing until I heard about it off chain.
I got a quick reply and some links to read about free account creation. Back to ground zero, the place I have to tell my friend to bear with me I've run into an issue. I was told oh hey no problem just use key chain. Big negative there roger as I'm a mobile only user and the options to get chrome extension stuff doesn't exist where I live, I've tried this too.
I'll also note someone mentioned steemhunt but that they use ethereum, but apparently, I can create an account there. I don't even know what "there" is as I'm not a fan of steemhunt for reasons other than they have circumvented their native blockchain. That's weird eh ?
Let's keep going, the other night I couldn't get into my steemitwallet which is the only time I ever attempt to suffer through stinc stuff. So, I ran to discord and was told "who uses keys anymore" ?
Well, I do silly bear, what else have I missed while i spend hours a day on actual steem and still don't know things??. I was told Roland has made a steem wallet app! Eureka! No key chain needed! I set it up very fast and it seems too legit to quit. It only took over 3 years for that to happen 🤗 All that's required is α password and to manually enter ones active and posting key.
I hope this isn't viewed as bitching and moaning as to me it's just painfully obvious observations that I've seen echoed by others too many times to count.
Moving on, explaining steem to my inspired friend over dinner, dessert, coffee, beer, and later snacks proved absolutely impossible!
Seriously, have you ever attempted to paint a clear picture of steem to a newb that doesn't know what even a blockchain is? I know this place pretty damn well, and I'm also a more than capable teacher but this task is overwhelming to both the steem guide as well as the hopeful initiate. Having to explain that I wasn't able to create their account because I'm on mobile and this place steemworld that has nothing to do with steemit is asking for too much permission from me that I'm not comfortable giving and again was appalled it's even an option is like a vigorous dry wanking.
Now my friend is not only deflated but confused and asking if they need a, PC or laptop to access steem? Well, yes and no. You can use partiko but they're not running the current version of steem after the hardfork. Do you remember what a hardfork is my friend ?
Yes, but hard fuck this steem shit I'm over it can you show me how to buy btc instead was their legit and logical reply..
Just some ramblings for everyone to consider as they delve into the SPS game and also ponder why the value of steem is sitting where it is. If steem was just priced where it was nearly a year ago when I joined, I'd have gladly kept powering everything up and my account would be valued at over 1,000 USD which is pretty fantastic living in my corner of the world. Instead, my steem account is worth not even a hundred bucks but I do have 160 dollars worth of btc because of the things I did and learned on this valuable platform that taught me the real value is in the intangible asset of edification and sifting through crap to find relevant useful crypto information.
So, please someone smart work on mobile stuff, work on having a central place to find out shit about steem and get support when things boink, also develop a condenser and better search capabilities so that steem can be the place for crypto 101. That for me besides the beautiful people I've made friends with is the real value and what I can tell my wife is worthwhile about my addiction here lol..
I think these things are all beyond reasonable and more importantly critical to the future of our beloved imperfect potentiality awesome platform.
I'll end by saying I read a very long article about EOS and it's a real dog. Sorry to anyone that thinks there is anything resembling quality decentralising magic happening there. I never got my voice return email to try Voice and now I never will. I'm not jumping ship to some other sea of ridiculousness and I don't think anyone else that's sane will either after researching what's going on there with billion dollar vote selling and a majority stake holding blockone not even participating in voting because it's such a sorted mess that only leads to an even more centralised platform..
Okay that's the Sunday edition thanks for suffering through that with me. Go back to your actifit or whatever stuff you vote for at the 5 minute mark to value roi over a decent steem...
