π£ I first visited Taboga years ago by sailboat. A Lovely & Friendly island so Close to Panama city but seems like a different county. This visit was no different, but the local tourism has risen by many factors.
π₯ π¦ I started a blog about Taboga 7 days ago but only covered ways to get there So today I'll take you on my Island adventure. π
Let's start with my favorite photo from my last day there, I was admiring a young lady passing when she asked if I wanted a photo of her with me! Yes, Seniorita I do.
π― Here it is π―
π― π° π± 1 of the first things that stood out to me in Panama is...Boys and Girls act like I remember as a young man back in Canada. Things in the Great White North have gone sideways since then. " What the Hell are you looking at! " is a common response to noticing a seductively dressed woman back home these days.? ( Another Blog someday ).
π Not so here in Panama π Staring too long gets you a prize photo. LOL, I've digressed already! Sorry, back to Taboga.
They serve ice cold beer at $1 each plus these Pineapple drinks created with a special tool they have.
And they go non-stop all day making these cool drinks for $5 each filled with pineapple juice and $6 with a shot of Rum mixed in.
You also get the pineapple that is removed for a snack.
I also spent lots of time here to talk with " Skinner " who is a ship's engineer and moved to the island years ago to be close to the canal.
When he's not working drives a 4 wheel drive Rino " Rino Tours " showing people around the island and running shuttle service anywhere you want to go.
Skinner is a lively conversationalist, to say the least, and has more interesting stories to tell than there is time to listen to them all.
πΆ Below is some of the instruments the bar provides for guests to enjoy. Or local musicians swing by for a beer and to play some music. We were across the walk from the bar this afternoon jamming for the people passing on their way back to the ferry to Panama City.
π» I spent most of the previous afternoon getting Drunk on the beach with the dude in the pink shirt and 4 pretty girls that he was traveling with. They were engaged in doing Glamor photography with each other but got camera shy when I pulled my phone out? So all I got was crappy pictures of them turning away. Sorry π
π Earlier that day I worked my way to the beach area and swam out to a SwimGym anchored way out to see what it was all about. Climbed onboard and proceeded to try it out, I eventually found the highest point on the rope swing davit and started diving off. By my 3-4th try, I see a lifeguard swimming out to me and waving at me? I make my final dive and swam over to him. No diving allowed he says! Ok " sorry I reply " and start swimming back to shore. He trying to keep up but was falling behind so I stopped to ask if he was ok? ( smart ass ) LOL
At that point, he pointed to 4 other police standing on the beach and said: " you are getting a ticket mister ".
So I swam back to the beach, stood up and put my hands behind my back. He caught up, we exchanged a few words, he made an assesment and told me I could go. Whew π
π· πΈπΉ πΊ π» Now the drinking started to get heavy! All the beach partiers wanted to meet me and were calling from all directions to come over for a drink. LOL, Well I didn't get a chance to meet all of them ( but I tried ) π
Here is pic from the beach looking South showing the SwimGym, Banana Boat ride and many of the visiting boats to Taboga
