This is the second part of my little photo story from Panama. All shots taken from a roof terrace with an unbelievable 360 degrees view on the city.
Like I said in part one, I grew tired of hauling photographic equipment across the world and sold most of my expensive gear.
I had already taken travel pictures with the iPhone 6s and 7 , but the reduction to the wide focal length of 28mm made some shots virtually impossible, as optical zooming always comes along with a dramatic loss of quality.
The second lens on the iPhone X gives me an optical 2x zoom of 56mm focal length. Pressing the 2x button is basically like changing the 28mm lens on my Leica for the 50mm lens. Just with one click and without carrying a photo bag.
This is what you get with the zoom lens. By the way: The curvy building left to the center is the local Trump Tower!
For comparison, this the same view taken with the wide angle lens. The difference is amazing.
Closer look at the 62 floors of the Hard Rock Hotel.
Another zoom view towards the mountains.
And one last look at the bay side. All this was taken while enjoying a cigar and some beers on the 37th floor. Thank you so much for hosting us, Torsten. This experience has literally changed my views on Panama City!
Hope you enjoy viewing as well!
