As the world is deluged by news of corruption, elites focused on laws and policies for elites only, right-wing and nationalist groups storm into office, and seemingly it is every country for itself; the release of the Paradise Papers has resounded like a murmur within a cacophony of yelping falsehoods. Where are the marches and outrage? The world is so deluged by grim forecasts, threats, war rumblings, the hoofs of refugees, and the chaos of political, financial, and social and healthcare net theivery and disdain that news of more oligarchical maneuverings limp wearily into tired ears.
Yet the lack of street protests and vain and vitriolic shouting of grievances into a corporate system already in firm control of all the machinations of government and the military may not be a bad sign. Everyone is tired of hand waving and every family in the confines of their modest dwellings know the system is broken and that the robber barons have once again won the day. In our grand disillusionment and defeat of liberty and opportunity in a system dominated by the rentier and entitled classes, the public and common citizenry quietly await the next wave of visionaries and liberators to return the breath of hope for common prosperity to the world order. We await the culminations of the great new minds and authentic, peerless leaders to wrest us from our private sanctuaries of frustration and towards a new promised land. And so it goes in our cycles of history.
