Today, I had lunch with my son and his two children. They are all loved, but today was a time for them to be admired.
A few days ago, my grandson (age 7) was behaving badly. My son finally reached his limit and took away his computer. His son must now convince his dad that he is ready to regain access to it. Now is the time to cheer!
Technology is a great babysitter. But there is a limit. When excessive exposure results in bad reactions, it takes firm resolve to break the dependence on it. Rather like breaking a bond between a baby and a pacifier.
Adults have them too. I think most of us have habits that sooth us. We ignore our addiction to them. Breaking these occasionally can lead to maturity. Children are great at breaking us of bad habits.
Tonight's beauty is a photo of my dog. Her name is Eleanor. She has broken my habit of sleeping late. She usually wakes me before 5AM. I now go to bed early.
