I'm looking for advice from people in similar situations. Recently, my boyfriends daughter who was in another state, came to live with us after her mother made some pretty big mistakes. She has only been here a couple days and is very sweet, listens well and picks up after herself. She is twelve, while my daughters are four and ten and are here only part time. So far I've tried to take interest in her interests, we get along quite well while shopping (imagine that haha) and I'm happy to report she seems to like me and I've made her laugh several times. However, she is very quiet (compared to my kids at least) and doesn't say much, so it's difficult to get her to discuss what she likes. (Food, hobbies, general taste in music and other things) and I'm perfectly aware there is going to be a possibly long adjustment period. Basically, I need advice as to how to eventually get closer to her without pushing too hard and over whelming her, resulting in her rejecting me as her parental figure.
