It's nearing Chinese New Year celebration, so I went back hometown like I usually did every weekend only this time the feeling when you arrived home is slightly different than it used to be. I felt somewhat lighter, peaceful and content the moment I step out of the car and looking at the front of our house.
My mom and brother had clean up the house and decorate it with red ribbons and lanterns to welcome the new year. All I can see was splash of bright red, green and when I enter the house there's some gold ornaments came out in display at a certain corner of the living area.
My mom said it was according to 'feng shui' that she picked up recently through online and it's believed to bring more luck and fortune to the family. 'Feng Shui', if some of you who didn't know about it, is a Chinese belief that uses energy forces to harmonize with the surrounding. By therefore placing these gold ornaments at a certain position and corner of a house, will bring a prosperous 'energy' to the ones that living in it. Well, not sure if I'm a believer in that, but I sure do feel some sense of calm and peace when I arrived home.
They said Chinese loved to display red color during the festive season because it symbolizes happiness. While green symbolizes health. Gold, you guess it, wealth! So what better way to welcome this auspicious new year with the pop of these 3 colors.
Happy Chinese New to all steemians! I am looking forward for your post on your own take in the celebration.
