We have been on vacation now for a week and by the title you can probably guess our destination. However, the maritimes encompasse a lot of territory.
Our first location was the beautiful Prince Edward Island. My wife and I fist visited in 1985 when first married with no children. We were camping at Murray Beach in New Brunswick and made a day trip to the island using the Port Elgin ferry. Now we use the Confederation Bridge which makes the trip much faster.
Starting in 1989 through about 2006 we continued to visit PEI, however it was now with first one child, then two, and we had a camper in tow.
So this year we went back to Cavendish to take in the sites and enjoy Cavendish Beach at the National Park.

The National Park has made major improvements including a new boardwalk to the beach. The beach is wonderful, not overcrowded, and the water is in the 70s.
Of course, a visit to PEI is not complete without taking in a sunset or two. We found our favorite spot near Cavendish and took in the beauty.

Also, the red cliffs are photo worthy.

We would recommend visiting one of the many lighthouses, this one also on the North shore.

Finally, I would recommend a visit to Dalvay by the Sea, a beautifully preserved home that is now part of the park.
Stay tuned for our next destination in the beautiful Canadian Maritimes.
