Mum wanted a Doctor so badly in the family but when I chose not to further my studies, she supported it.
Way beyond her time just like your parents :)

Am I doing right by them

It sounds like you are doing a great job with your kids
And you want the best for them
For them to be happy, not for you to brag that your child is a Doctor, Lawyer or Engineer just because :)
