Jupiter is the biggest planet in out solar system.
It is named after the king of the Roman gods.
A Gas giant, Jupiter's stripes and swirls are actually cold, windy clouds of ammonia and water floating in an atmosphere made up mostly of hydrogen and helium.
Jupiter contains a storm that's about twice as big as Earth. Known as the Great Red spot', this gigantic storm has raged on for a couple of centuries. It is basically a giant oval of crimson- coloured clouds in the planet's southern hemisphere measuring 16,000 kilometers in width as of April 2017.
Jupiter is 11 times bigger than Earth. If Earth were the size of a grape, Jupiter would be the size of a basketball !
