Yesterday I spoke about an Amish tradition of a frolic in the form of a Steemit barn raising, which is how the Amish socialize and come together in a united front to fulfill a practical need.

Today, my attention is on John.
I've been somewhat following for a few months. I'll be honest: I don't "get" all of his content. I don't understand terms like Hikikimori and would rather put my head in the sand on stuff like pizza-gate. I have my own demons to contend with. His knowledge on cryptocurrencies is way, way beyond my own, so it's hard for me to relate to those articles.
And you might be wondering, why follow him at all? Because he's got a brilliant and sophisticated mind. He's wide open to the universe and all its possibilities. He has such a wonderful mindset that I can truly connect to.
In his post Losing Everything in Your Life Could Be a Good Thing to Be Reminded That Life is Good and Happiness is Here Now, he speaks of disassociating from negative people and embracing the positive aspects in life.
I can relate to that.
I've released negative people in my life - even the blood relations. I've been evicted from my home wondering how or where I would put a roof over my head. I lost the bulk of my stuff in storage because I had to choose between fixing the car or paying for the unit. Hell, I'm still recovering from loss and debt, but I won't let that get me down. I definitely connect with John on this level.
I firmly believe I can learn new things through him. John's interests do not have to match my own to be a Steemit friend, you know?

is a personal friend whom I met during our Blab days. He's brand new on Steemit and trying to find his legs, but I'm encouraging him as much as possible off-line to get active here. He's gone through a bit of a dry spell with his independent NLP practice. The bills have piled up and he doesn't eat every day.
I cannot abide being cold or hungry!
And I'm so frustrated that so many of us are on a precarious ledge to make choices between bills and FOOD.
If you know anyone else who could use a boost, please send me their username in comments. I will read through their posts in order to highlight them in future blogs. I cannot promise that my posts make much, but I endeavor to TRY and do my part.
