life
The dynamic nature of our lives and environment reveals a big message that we must all pay attention to. Changes occur in our physical body, in our environment and in many other areas. You gain friends and lose friends.
You gain money at some point and lose money at some point. You face people who may dislike you and later like you or vice versa. You may attain a temporary position and someone else takes over tomorrow. Nothing really lasts forever.
A young man who is very good with the use of Microsoft Excel claimed to be very good at using certain functions. We all respected him and saw him as an Excel Guru. However, we didn’t know that there was another guru amongst us.
The new excel guru taught us something more interesting and more valuable than the older guru. While we all hailed the new guru, he quickly pointed out that the old guru challenged him to be better; he gave credit to the old guru. This tells us that things can change at the speed of light.
Strive to be up-to-date in all that you do. Be a better you everyday. Learn something new everyday. Relying on outdated knowledge can make you appear ignorant and incompetent. In your career, learn something new.
In your business do something new. Innovation is creating something new, while creativity is doing the same thing in a more valuable way. There’s a link between the two.
Be innovative and creative in your thinking and in your approach to life. Don’t remain stagnant in your career and expect things to work. Don’t remain stagnant in your business and expect more returns.
People no longer count years of experience, but quality of experience and value proposition. Your value proposition what you can deliver and not how long you have been in the profession or business.
As you step out this week, set a target for yourself to learn a new thing.
